Simple Household Organization Tips

Your home is your favorite place in the world. But if your castle is starting to get you down because of the clutter and chaos, it is time to do something about it. Organizing your home can bring about a level of peace and tranquility. Here are few tricks to help you get your organizing efforts underway. Does this Spark an idea?

Room by Room

Begin your organizing efforts one room at a time. Divide the room up, and organize it fully, putting away the things that you have places for. Once you find a home for everything in that section, move on to the next one. If you can't find the desktop, the counter or the closet floor, and you've got no place to put things, chances are you have too many things you don't need, can't accommodate and need to get rid of.

Consider what you really need, and what you've got space for. If you are relocating the clutter to another room or hiding it away, it is time to dump some of it. Get rid of the things that are not used in your home. Old photos and family heirlooms are something that you want to keep forever, but do you really want or need that set of golfing cups that your husband won at the office Christmas party raffle? Probably not. If you're not sure why you still have it, organize a yard sale and get rid of it.

Tips

Don't let old habits re-emerge. Put yourself on an organizing and decluttering system for future purchases. If you buy a new lamp, you need to get rid of an old one. It's a great system and it will keep you from being overwhelmed with vast drawers full of toys, or cabinets full of sets of dishes that you don't need or even want.
