Decorate A China Cabinet With Dishes And Other Objects

Make a statement by displaying china and other personal objects in your china cabinet.

Many couples register for china when they get married, and others buy the dishes based on personal preference. Just putting the service set into the cupboard keeps you from enjoying the dishes when they are not in use. Use the china and other favored objects to create a beautiful showcase that not only accents your home, but allows you quick access to your dishes. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Decide a theme for your cabinet. You can decorate with multiple objects, but to keep it from looking cluttered, a centralized theme is necessary. The objects you select can match the china pattern, or the colors in the pattern. If you purchased the dishes somewhere special, placing other collected items with the dishes will be an instant memory.

2. Set the dishes in the cabinet. Some china cabinets are better for stacking the plates and bowls, while others have notches that you can stand dishes up in for display. Arrange your dishes according to your hutch.

3. Place objects in the hutch around your dishes. Large objects may overwhelm the space, for a cleaner look keep items close to the same size as your dishes or smaller.

4. Add larger objects to the top of the cabinet. For example, if you are displaying various hat boxes, larger boxes at the top of the cabinet will draw attention upward. The dishes will not be overwhelmed since the larger objects are not overshadowing them.

5. Put on any finishing touches like flowers, ribbons or seashells.
