Removing closet doors can give your closet a greater degree of visibility.
While closet doors are useful in keeping your clothes and other stored items private and concealed, they can sometimes make a small space seem even smaller. Removing closet doors can give your entire living space a more open and airy appearance. Hanging a closet curtain also allows you a greater degree of creativity, as you can choose the fabric for the curtains to reflect your personal style and contrast or complement the already established decor of the room. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Measure the width of the closet from wall to wall in the exact area where you plan to hang your curtains. Decide where you want your curtains to fall, either down to the floor or a few inches above it, and measure the approximate length you want them to be. Write down the measurements.
2. Purchase a tension rod that can adjust to the length you need it to be. Purchase curtains that fulfill the desired length you want them to be. Pass the tension rod through the top loops of the curtains.
3. Place a step stool in the ideal location in your closet and step upon it, holding the tension rod with curtains. Place one end of the tension rod against one closet wall. Keeping the tension rod level, twist the other end of the tension rod toward the opposite wall.
4. Twist the other end of the tension rod so that it meets the other wall tightly. The tightness of the tension rod against the wall is what will keep it upright. Gently jiggle the tension rod; it shouldn't budge. If it moves even slightly, you'll need to tighten it some more.
