Make A Seasoning Called Spatini

Spatini adds flavor to pasta dishes

Spatini sauce is used with a variety of pasta dishes. It used to be made by Lawry's but has been discontinued. However the ingredients are simple and it is easy to make on your own and store to use with your favorite recipes. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Mix 2 tbsp. of Italian seasoning, 2 tsp. garlic powder, 2 tsp. of salt, 1 tsp. pepper and 2 tsp. seasoned salt together. Add beet powder for coloring and place in an airtight jar.

2. Add the mixture to sauce when making dishes such as spaghetti bolognese or other pasta dishes. Use 1 to 1.5 tbsp. per recipe for four people.

3. An example of a recipe including the Spatini seasoning is to brown 1 lb. of minced beef and add 1 tbsp. vegetable oil and a bay leaf. Pour in 1 to 1.5 cups of water and 1 large can of chopped tomatoes to the mixture. Mince 2 tbsp. of onions and add along with 1 to 1.5 tbsp. of the Spatini seasoning. Cover and simmer this for 30 minutes while cooking 12 oz. of thin spaghetti for 15 minutes in half a pint of water. Add beef mixture to the cooked spaghetti and serve. Place grated Parmesan cheese on table to sprinkle on the dish as an option. This recipe serves four.
