Disassemble Bifold Closet Doors

Remove bifold doors from their tracks for complete disassembly.

Disassembling bifold closet doors makes them more compact for storage. Removing all the hardware from the doors and storing them together with any track pieces protects the parts from damage. And when the hardware and screws are kept in a sealed bag or container, it means you don't have to worry about losing important pieces. When you are ready to reinstall the doors, you should have all the necessary pieces readily available. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Hold onto the edge of the door and lift it down and out of the top pivot on the end of the door. Some pivots have a spring; if you press on the pivot, it should release the door.

2. Swing the door back and away from the bracket.

3. Lift the door out of the top pivot near the door frame.

4. Lift the door up and out of the bottom pivot.

5. Remove the second bifold door by lifting it out of both the top and bottom pivots. Set both doors flat on the floor.

6. Unscrew the top and bottom brackets and tracks from the door opening.

7. Loosen and remove the hinges from the bifold closet doors with a screwdriver.

8. Loosen the screws on the door pulls with a screwdriver.
