Design & Create A Craft Space In A Small Room

Have fun creating your own personal crafting space.

Designing a functional crafting room within a small space is simple if you have the right tools and furniture. You may need to get creative if you have excess crafting supplies or larger furniture. A small crafting room may not have enough space for a futon or extra couch, but you might be able to fit a rocking chair or recliner in the corner, depending on the overall size of the room. A properly organized crafting room within limited space can make your life easier when it comes time to tackle your creative endeavors. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Install shelves on each available wall within the room. Avoid installing shelves on walls with windows because this creates too much clutter. Don't install shelves too close to the door or closet space.

2. Place your sewing table or crafting desk up against an available wall within the room. If possible, place your desk underneath one of your installed shelves. You should be able to fit at least once small desk and chair in a small crafting room. Include more furniture if there is room, but avoid adding too many accents because this can create clutter and make you feel closed in.

3. Place wicker baskets or square plastic bins on the shelves and fill these with crafting supplies. Label the baskets so that you know what is inside. You can also use fill up larger mason jars with buttons, embellishments, pens, ribbon and other crafting supplies. There is not need to label glass jars because they are see through.

4. Place additional supplies and items that you don't normally use all the time in the closet. Keep these items organized in labeled bins so that you can find what you need when you do go in there. Utilizing closet space can free up additional space in the actual craft room.

5. Decorate your walls with crafts that you made such as a pressed flower framed photo, quilted wall hanging or framed scrapbook page.

6. Place a small hutch filled with supplies in the room if you have any additional space left. Exclude the hutch if there is not enough room to walk around in. This will ensure that you create an organized and functional craft room within a small space.
