Install closet rods at the proper height in the closet.
Organizing a closet enables you to use the space effectively to store your clothing. The design of a closet should fit the items you store to maximize the space and make it work for your needs. A well-designed closet typically features hanging rods at several different heights to hold clothing of different lengths. Determine your clothing length so you will know how high to put hanging rods in a closet. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Examine the clothing that you need to hang in your closet to determine your needs. If you hang full-length dresses, you require a tall hanging closet rod to provide up to 65 inches of space. If you hang medium-length dresses and pants by the waistband, you require a medium hanging closet rod to provide up to 48 inches of space. If you hang suit coats, shirts and folded pants, you require a short or low closet rod to provide up to 39 inches of space.
2. Position a single rod with one shelf above the rod at 65 inches from the floor.
3. Place a single rod with additional shelving above the rod at 48 inches above the floor for medium height hanging.
4. Install a single low rod with even more shelving above at 39 inches above the floor. This option also enables hanging a double rod with the top rod at 80 inches from the floor and the bottom rod at 39 inches above the floor.
