Stearns & Foster is a brand of luxury mattress manufactured by Sealy, a North Carolina-based bedding company. As of 2010, the Stearns & Foster product line does not contain beds that incline, although Sealy manufactures adjustable beds that can recline and incline.
History
Stearns & Foster mattresses were developed in the mid-1800s by G.S. Stearns and Seth Foster. The use of the mattresses became widespread in hotels. As of 2010, Stearns & Foster mattresses are often found in luxury hotels throughout the world.
Types
As of 2010, three types of Stearns & Foster mattresses are available. The least expensive is the Traditional; the Limited-Edition Silver Dream is the mid-range option and the most expensive mattress is the Limited-Edition Golden Elegance.
Fun Fact
Of the three mattress types, the Golden Elegance is the only one that uses horsehair as a construction material. According to the Sealy website, horsehair is extremely durable and wicks away moisture and humidity from the body when sleeping.
