Install A Pegasus Verdanza Shower Valve

Modernize your bath today with a Pegasus shower faucet.

The Pegasus Verdanza single handle shower faucet's distinctive design and integral safety features make it a smart addition to any modern bath. Installing a shower faucet can seem like a daunting task for the inexperienced homeowner. The truth is, almost anyone can install the Pegasus Verdanza faucet. Innovations in plumbing technology allow the novice do-it-yourselfer to install plumbing fixtures with no welding, gluing or soldering. A whole shower faucet installation takes only a day with the proper equipment and instruction.

Instructions

1. Turn the water off and remove the old shower valve. Shut the water off at the water meter or house cut-off. Remove the old shower faucet trim. Cut the hot and cold water supply lines feeding the faucet. Cut or unscrew the faucet from the shower riser pipe with a tubing cutter.

2. Connect the new Pegasus Verdanza shower faucet body to the existing shower riser pipe using a male pipe adapter. Wrap the adapter with plumber's thread tape before screwing into the top of the faucet body. If you are using a Pegasus Verdanza tub and shower faucet, install a brass plug in the bottom outlet of the new shower faucet body. This converts the faucet to a shower-only use.

3. Install new water line connections from the new faucet body to the original hot and cold water supply lines with male pipe adapters.

4. Mount the Pegasus faucet body to a wooden cross member between the existing shower wall studs. Use two 2-inch wood screws to secure the faucet body to the cross member. Check the faucet for level and the correct depth from the finished shower wall.

5. Remove the plastic construction cap before installing the faucet trim.

6. Install the faucet escutcheon faceplate with its two long mounting screws. Slide the plate against the shower wall and install the screws. Seal the faceplate to the shower wall with tub and tile silicone caulk.

7. Install the faucet handle temporarily by setting it on the handle inverter, and then tighten the handle setscrew with the Allen wrench provided with your faucet. Turn the faucet on to the hottest setting, and adjust the maximum temperature setting according to the Pegasus faucet instructions.

8. Reinstall the Pegasus faucet handle permanently.

9. Remove the old shower arm by turning it counterclockwise with a pipe wrench.

10. Install the new shower arm by wrapping its threads on both ends with plumber's Teflon tape and then screwing the long side of the arm into the wall by hand. Tighten the shower arm with a plumber's strap wrench. Screw the Pegasus Verdanza shower head onto the shower arm by hand, and then secure it with an adjustable wrench.

Tips Warnings

If you are replacing the faucet from behind the shower wall, you will need to remove the present cross member and reinstall.

Water temperatures above 120 degrees can cause serious injury.
