Assemble A Kitchen Faucet Aerator

Assemble a Kitchen Faucet Aerator

Kitchen faucets are simple devices that contain several inner working parts. These parts regulate the flow of water, and they must often be removed for cleaning or unclogging. Proper assembly is necessary for the water to flow correctly, and the process is simple if you have the parts in order.

Instructions

1. Lay out the pieces in order of assembly. Be sure they are clean and in good shape. Washers should be tear-free, and the housing and bushings should be smooth and without gouges or scratches. The screen should be clean.

2. Place the housing inside the body of the aerator. The housing is the next biggest piece besides the body itself which is the outer shell of the aerator that you see attached to the faucet.

3. Set the screen on top of the housing. It should fit snugly but easily drop into place and unhindered for water to flow through.

4. Add the bushing on top of the screen. This holds the screen in place when the water runs through the faucet.

5. Place the mixer or flow restrictor (sometimes one solid piece, sometimes two pieces) on top of the bushing.

6. Screw the assembled aerator onto the faucet mouth, finger tightening it when it is in place. Do not use pliers or a wrench to tighten as it will damage the face of the aerator body and is not necessary. The washer should make a tight leak free seal. If any water seeps around the edge of the aerator, remove and re-tighten.
