Repair A Delta Bathtub Faucet

Repairing a Delta Bathtub Faucet

If you are noticing leaking or inconsistent water temperature coming from your bathtub, then your stem needs to be changed. This is the most occurring problem with Delta faucets. It's important to purchase a replacement cartridge that is specific for Delta faucets. If you are experiencing tarnishing on your faucet or a loss of color, contact Delta to see if yours is still under warranty.

Instructions

Stem Removal

1. Turn off the main water valve in your home.

2. Use an Allen wrench to unscrew on the underside of your Delta tub's handle and remove the handle.

3. Remove clip holding the stem in place.

4. Remove the stem from the brass mixing valve with a pair off pliers, rotating it counterclockwise. You won't be able to see the mixing valve, since it is behind the wall, but it is what the stem sits in.

Stem Installation

5. Insert the new stem into the Delta shower's brass mixing valve.

6. Set clip that holds the stem in place.

7. Set the handle back on the stem, securing it in place by tightening the Allen screw on the bottom of the handle.
