Diy Ikea Cabinet Installation

IKEA cabinets come as pre-cut panels with appropriate tools and supplies, so buyers can build and install the cabinets themselves. All the necessary screws and hinges are there, including the hardware to mount wall cabinets. However, when all of the pieces and panels are scattered on the floor in front of you, the process can be overwhelming. Here's a guide for installing IKEA wall cabinets. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Unpack the IKEA cabinet kit and identify all of the cabinet items in the kit. Set out the cabinets according to the guide, so you have several separate cabinet frames with their shelves. Place the cabinet doors a little apart; you won't attach them yet because it makes the installation process difficult.

2. Place the level on the wall where you plan to install the cabinets. You want to ensure your chosen space is even, so the cabinets are evenly attached. Installing cabinets on uneven walls results in uneven cabinets. Use the square ruler to check the corners, if the cabinets you are installing are corner cabinets.

3. Use the wall stud finder to locate studs, and make small pencil marks at those locations. It's easier if you mark the stud positions just above a line at the required height for the top of the suspension rail -- 83 7/8 inches for 30-inch cabinets. Use a long level to draw a pencil line at that height.

4. Take the suspension rail and place its top along the line you drew, so that you can see the wall stud markings. Attach the suspension rail to the wall with the installation screws. These screws are long enough to reach into the studs.

5. Take the assembled cabinets and line them up to the suspension rail on the wall. Start with a corner cabinet and install basic cabinets outward from the corner, if applicable. Line the cabinet up so that the pre-drilled holes in the back panel match the installation holes on the suspension rail. Use the cabinet installation screws that reach into the suspension rail. Tighten the screws inside the cabinets using a wrench.

6. Use a clamp to hold adjacent cabinets together, and determine which partial holes you will use to connect the cabinets to each other. Drill all the way through those holes with the power drill, and use the provided screws to connect the cabinets.

7. Use a screwdriver to attach the cabinet doors with the provided hinges. Use the pre-drilled hinge holes inside the cabinet and on the cabinet door.
