The greater Los Angeles area boasts stores that carry leisure suits, company uniforms from the '50s and plenty of Hollywood castoffs. These centers of nostalgia may add a whole new dimension to your wardrobe, or enhance the costume collection of any theater or high school drama class.
Instructions
1. Wander the long, eclectic and boutique-packed Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood. You'll find a healthy selection of '70s cords, loud '60s sheath dresses and fedoras, as well as old uniforms from train operators, mechanics and restaurant workers.
2. Take a right onto Sunset off of Santa Monica Boulevard, where you'll discover the trendy Los Feliz-Silver Lake area. As you circle for parking and decide on a lunch spot, you'll discover Snivling Sibblings Vintage, a hip vintage store frequented by the stars.
3. Head to Burbank for all those things you've seen on-screen. A few stores sell old movie costumes, in addition to the outfits worn by your favorite soap and sitcom stars.
4. Look for vintage couture shops in West Hollywood and Beverly Hills. Well-preserved gowns, day dresses and accessories from YSL, Christian Dior and Gucci await you.
5. Stroll Old Town Pasadena and visit Rebecca's Dream, a vintage store that carries a broad but shallow selection of clothing, accessories and shoes.
