Learn some tile flooring ideas for small foyers.
First impressions last, and your foyer is your opportunity to create a positive impression of your entire home. A foyer is frequently a small space, so every design element will count, especially the flooring. Generally, the foyer should show a glimpse of the overall design of your home. It does not have to perfectly match but should complement the other rooms of the house. Does this Spark an idea?
Square Ceramic
You can create a modern look for your small foyer using square, ceramic tiles in assorted colors. First install a thin line of dark-colored tiles such as black around the edges of the floor. Fill the center of the floor with other tiles. Achieve a cheerful look by adding yellow, pink, jade, purple, aqua, amber, white and black tiles in random patterns. Decorate with caution, though, to avoid overdoing it and creating an overwhelming look. Add items that will complement at least one of the colors in the foyer's floor such as a glass vase with pink daisies or a wrought-iron table with a jade-colored tile tabletop.
Mosiac Pattern
Use colorful tiles to create a mosaic or mural pattern on the floor. To make a wildflower pattern border, use broken pieces of cream, purple, lilac and dark green tiles. Fill the middle of the floor with broken chunks of light and dark green tiles. Decorate your small foyer with a small wooden bench with floral pillows.
Marble
For an expensive look, go for marble tile. Use white tiles for a classic appearance and to give your foyer the illusion of a larger space. Add a crystal chandelier or a marble table for accents.
Natural Stone
For a greener look and feel, use natural stones that will give your foyer an earthy touch. Pair them with brick or wooden walls. Accent with flagstone tiles, a log bench, patchwork curtains and a tree stump table.
Terracotta
If you prefer a southwestern look, use reddish-brown terracotta tiles. Lay out plain square terracotta tiles for an earthy appearance. Accent your foyer with items to complement your southwestern theme, such as cactus plants and framed photos of chili peppers, deserts and coyotes.
Travertine
To achieve a more modern look, use light brown travertine tiles with colored streaks. Accent your space with an oak table and a terracotta water jug.
