A walk-in closet is a useful addition to any room in a home. They provide ample storage and allow you to view the items stored within with ease. No matter how vast the space in a walk-in closet, it can feel cramped or unnatural if it doesn't feature natural light and air; a window is an ideal way to elevate this problem. Instructions
1. Decide on the layout of the closet rods, working around the window. For example, if the window is square in the center of the closet, plan to install the rods on the walls on either side of the window. Avoid hanging the rods in a manner that obstructs the window, blocking the view and use of the portal.
2. Choose a location for shelving, drawers or both in the closet. Shelves and drawers provide extra storage for shoes and folded items. Plan to have the shelves and drawers installed below the window or on the wall on either side of the window.
3. Cover the window with a window treatment. While the natural light and air flow that a window can provide is beneficial, it can pose an issue for privacy. Hang curtains that match the decor of the adjoining room, hang blinds on the window or install shutters on the window. Choose a treatment that allows light to filter through even when closed, such as cafe curtains, sheers, light-colored blinds or louvered shutters that can be propped open.
