Cute Closet Ideas

Incorporate curtains in a fun pattern in place of closet doors.

Closets aren't just for hanging clothes and storing away shoes. They are top spots to transform into cozy nooks and cute stowaways. An overlooked linen closet can be a blooming, bright home office. Typically cluttered with home supplies, a closet can get an addition of storage bins and wall coverings to turn the space into your own private destination. When you think you don't have enough space in a small closet, try these tips and tricks to help you envision what the space could be. Does this Spark an idea?

Accessories

Create extra space in the closet using a set of vintage suitcases. Don't just leave them stacked in the closet to use when traveling---they can double as an area for storage while looking attractive in the space. Old suitcases can be used to store linens and sweaters or out-of-season clothing. Wallpaper the closet with vibrant wallpaper in a polka dot design. Use wallpaper to line a walk-in closet to create a makeshift dressing room and provide warmth in the space. Decorative accessories such as an all white chandelier provide a cute, whimsical display while creating additional light.

Home Office

Turn a small closet into a home office. Using an under-utilized closet and turning it into a cute and cozy home office creates a practical workspace. Adding a pegboard behind the desk provides an area for hanging photographs and accessories. Custom-framed bulletin boards covered in artwork create a focal point in the room. Open wall-mounted shelving provides room for home office products and keeps the space uncluttered. Add color and whimsy to the closet by adding floor-to-ceiling curtains instead of the door. Echo colors found within the room to use as the curtain fabric. Floral or striped curtains create a soft touch in the space. Part the curtains when the office is in use and draw them shut at the end of the day. Keep the doors on the home office to take advantage of unused space. Line each door with pegboard for hanging office supplies such as scissors and rulers.

Reading Nook

Take an extra closet in the home and turn it into a cozy reading nook. Adding a daybed or twin bed provides a spot for napping. Wall sconces and decorative artwork mounted in the reading nook can bring warmth to the space. A built-in bench covered with an oversized pillow in a fun, whimsical pattern such as a trellis or stripes adds a burst of vibrancy to the closet. Add storage bins under the bench in bright patterns to provide a burst of color to the space as well as a home for books and blankets. Amp up the reading nook with chalkboard paint. Write out favorite book quotes or poems on the space to provide inspiration while enjoying the cozy confines of your new reading nook.
