Painting Metal Wardrobe Door Frames

If the metal door frames on your wardrobe are a different shade than the structure around them, you can paint them to match. Painting the metal door frames isn't as hard as it sounds, as long as you make sure to properly prepare them and use the correct type of paint. Even though there are metal-safe packaged paints available, using spray paint will allow you to quickly and effectively coat the metal door frames of the wardrobe. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Remove the metal door frames from the wardrobe with a screwdriver or any special tool that was included in your wardrobe installation kit.

2. Dip a clean rag in warm soapy water and wash the entire surface of the metal door frames. Rinse the rag and wipe away any excess suds.

3. Buff the metal door frames dry using a soft cloth.

4. Place the metal door frames on top of an old sheet or large drop cloth in a well ventilated area.

5. Shake well a can of spray paint formulated for metal. Hold the nozzle about 12 inches away from the door frames and give them a thin, even coating.

6. Allow the paint to dry completely. Apply a sealant to the frames to protect the paint job from getting scratched or damaged.

7. Allow the sealant to dry. Re-attach the painted frames to the wardrobe doors.
