Diy Bed Room Storage

Repurpose a vintage suitcase into a storage-friendly nightstand.

Vintage luggage has a style that shouldn't be hidden away in the closet. Use the bottom half of a chair with good legs and a small, vintage suitcase to make a one-of-a-kind nightstand with built in storage. Check thrift stores, yard sales, flea markets and online venues for the right suitcase. If your find isn't as pretty as you'd like, spruce it up with spray paint and a new fabric lining. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Clean your suitcase inside and out. Make any necessary repairs, such as oiling the hinges or repainting.

2. Choose a chair with a flat wooden or woven seat. Cut the back and arms from the chair with a saw. You will use just the seat and legs for this project. Sand and paint the chair as desired. This is the nightstand base.

3. Set the suitcase on top of the base. Make sure it is centered. Screw in place. The inside of the suitcase can be used for storage for things like books and magazines, out-of-season accessories or letters and diaries.
