Install Closetmaid Shelftracks

ClosetMaid ShelfTracks are the brackets installed directly into the wall. The wire shelves hang from the brackets. In order for your shelf to be sturdy and secure, it is important that these tracks are hung properly. The number of tracks you need to hang will vary depending on the size of the shelf you are installing. They must be secure to the wall before the shelf can be installed. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Measure the length of the shelf and determine how many tracks will need to be installed. One track should be installed every 16-to-24 inches. Divide the length of the track by 16 to get the number of tracks needed.

2. Run a stud finder along the area where the shelf will be installed. Press it against the wall and move it across until it lights up. Mark each stud location with a pencil. Studs will generally be spaced out every 16 inches.

3. Line up the first piece of track vertically at the first stud location and push it up so it is flush with the ceiling. Drill it into place with pan head screws. Insert a screw every 8 inches through the track and into the stud behind it. Move up the track until it is secure to the wall.

4. Line up the next track at the second stud location and repeat the same process. Continue in the same manner, installing a track at every stud location until you have covered the entire distance of the shelf that will rest on the track.

5. Inspect all of the tracks and verify they are secure in place and not loose at all before hanging the shelving from them.
