Use Every Inch Of Your Closet Space

An organized closet will be able to store more items.

If you live in an apartment, or if your house happens to have tiny closets, you know what it's like to have a lack of space to organize everything you own. If you have more items than space in your closet, there are ways of coping and making the most of all the space you do have. With some clever organizing techniques and a few closet tricks, you can use every inch of your closet space and be able to neatly fit more items inside your closet. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Install more hanging rods in your closet. While long items, such as dresses and coats, need the full length of the closet to hang, many can be hung one-on-top-of-the-other on separate rods. These include shorter clothing items, such as shirts, tanks, short skirts and jackets.

2. Hang closet shelves on either side of the closet for additional storage space for your items. Closet shelving kits come with everything you need to hang them, including brackets and screws to fasten them to the wall.

3. Add "stackable" plastic bins to the floor of your closet. This bins can come with drawers for easier access to your items. Inside these bins, store things you don't use all the time, such as off-season clothes or fancy shoes.

4. Use the back of the door. Hang items like shoes holders, tie racks or just a few hooks on the backs of your closet door for added space.

5. Stacks items on the top shelf of your closet. That shelf might be tough to reach, but it offers excellent storage space. Put items up there that are rarely used, such as old photo albums or keepsakes. Alternately, store things used more often, such as linens or towels, on that top shelf, as long as it is in easy reach.
