Make A Closet Track

Bi-fold doors are held in place by a track.

Due to space issues, many closets don't have hinged doors. Instead, they have bi-fold or sliding doors. These doors hang from a track across the top of the door frame. The proper installation of the door track ensures that the doors will function correctly when installed. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Measure the distance across the top of the door frame.

2. Cut the track with a hacksaw to fit the length of the door frame.

3. Hold the track against the top of the door frame, centering it so it is equidistant from the front and back edges of the door frame. Hold a level against the side of the track to check the alignment and adjust the track if necessary. If you're working alone, mark the edges of the track onto the door frame. If you have an assistant, have him hold the track in position.

4. Screw the track to the door frame, driving the screws deep enough that the heads of the screws are below the surface of the track, where they won't interfere with the doors opening and closing.
