Sliding doors are challenging to decorate. Not only are many sliding doors made of glass and therefore cannot be painted, but the sliding part of the doors should not face obstacles when opening or closing. Wooden sliding doors, which are often used for closets, are often painted or stained but cannot have obstacles that ruin movement. Decorations are limited because of the nature of the doors. Although the project is limited to certain options, there are some basic designs available for sliding doors that can make the doors beautiful without ruining them. Does this Spark an idea?

Sliding Glass Doors
1. Put up curtain rods that span the entire door. Hammer the curtain rod holders into place using the nails provided.
2. Hang the curtains. The type of curtains used, from lacy curtains that let light in through a glass door to heavy curtains that can hide the door completely when it is closed, is based solely on personal preferences and the color scheme of the room. Avoid colors that clash with the room decor. Curtains should be slid onto the curtain rod and then the curtain rod with the curtain put onto the holders according to the instructions provided with the rods. Wiggle them slightly to ensure that the curtain rods are securely in place.
3. Add glass decorating stickers. While pictures and similar objects cannot be hung on sliding doors, decorating stickers are available for glass doors. These stickers can stick to the glass without leaving a sticky residue when removed. Decorating stickers come in a variety of types, including small and larger stickers. The stickers have a variety of designs but look similar to plastic. They stick through static rather than an adhesive.

4. Paint or stain the sliding doors in a preferred color. Use a wood paint or wood stain for any wooden sliding doors. Use a paint brush and paint along the grain of the wood, which should be either side to side or up and down, depending on the placement and type of wood. The wood grain shows slight lines that follow a specific direction.
5. Place stencils against the wood. Stencils of flowers, birds, or any preferred design are appropriate. Wood sliding doors should not have stickers placed on them. Unlike glass, the static of glass stickers doesn't work with wood and adhesive stickers leave residue when removed. Stenciling pictures or designs changes the wood from a plain color while avoiding sticky residue.
6. Add paint to the stencils. Choose one or more paints for the stencils that are different in color to the paint or stain in the background. For example, a white painted wood sliding door can use black, blue, green, purple or any preferred color for the stencils.
7. Place curtain rods and curtains if preferred. Wooden sliding doors do not often use curtains, but personal preference and room design might require their use. Use a hammer and nails to put up the curtain rod and slide the curtains onto the curtain rod.
