Decorate A Clothing Divider For Different Age Groups

Bring order into your messy closet with personalized clothing dividers.

Clothing dividers are the modern antidote for the messy, disorganized closet. Simply attach the plastic clothing divider to your closet rod and closet organization immediately becomes a cinch. Mothers of young children might use these to organize baby clothes into different sizes while adults find them handy for separating types or seasons of clothing. Does this Spark an idea?

Infants

Clothing dividers become essential for parents of infants because of the volume of clothes their baby will wear over the course of the first 18 months. Separating the different sizes of clothes bought for or given to the baby becomes simple when you mark clothing dividers with the different sizes. Carry the theme of the nursery into the closet by painting the plastic dividers with the appropriate pattern, then painting the sizes over the pattern. For example, for a jungle-themed nursery, paint the dividers green and then paint a different jungle animal on each divider along with the clothing sizes. Stickers provide a quicker solution for decorating the dividers and require no artistic talent. If your nursery does not have a theme, simply paint the plastic a solid color and then stencil the baby's initials and the different sizes: 0-3 months, 3-6 months, 6-9 months, 9-12 months and 12-18 months.

Young Children

Now your child can be a part of decorating her clothing divider. This provides a simple craft to keep your young children busy and enjoy organization at the same time. Using plain plastic clothing dividers; allow your child to color with markers and decorate with her favorite stickers. Provide stickers of her favorite animals, sports or characters. With your assistance, she can glue paper flowers, silly eyeballs, beads or buttons onto her dividers. Make sure to leave room for writing the types of the clothing on the dividers, such as pants, shirts or sweaters.

Teens

Although they might roll their eyes at you at first, this project could become a fun way for your teenagers to showcase their individuality. Your daughter could choose to decorate her dividers by attaching gems, beads, charms, pendants or even jewelry to the plastic. If she fancies painting, she could paint different patterns, pictures or symbols on each divider. Your son might enjoy gluing little Lego men or miniature sports items to his dividers. Use hot glue to ensure the items stay in place. Many craft stores carry a large array of fun erasers that could be glued to your child's divider.

Adults

The adult no longer craves dividers decorated with ballerina stickers or jungle animals. An adult might want a more elegant and mature divider for her clothes. Instead of painting the divider, choose a fabric you like, cut the right size and glue it onto your divider. If you still crave a little glitter in your closet, paint your plastic dividers a light color then write in glitter glue on your dividers. For a masculine option, paint the dividers deep brown or charcoal gray and mark his initials on the divider using small letter stamps in a cream-colored ink.
