Louvered doors may be a single door or more commonly, a bi-fold door. The bi-fold doors install with a top and bottom track that the doors ride in when opening and closing them. Bi-fold louvered doors are fully adjustable up, down, left and right to close firmly and be level both horizontally and vertically in the doorjamb. Louvered doors have small openings in between wooden horizontal slats to allow air circulation inside the closet or pantry to avoid musty smells. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Measure the gap in the middle of the two doors where they meet. Measure the gap at the top and bottom of both doors with a measuring tape. Louvered doors require a 1/4-inch gap from the top of the doorjamb, on the sides of the doorjamb and in between the two doors for correct operation.
2. Open the doors and observe the pivot pin at the top outer edge of each door. Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the screw that holds the upper hardware into the top doorjamb. Turn the screw counterclockwise to loosen it.
3. Slide the bracket left or right to move the entire top of the door in the same direction.
4. Tighten the screw by turning it clockwise in the new position.
5. Adjust both door tops in this manner to achieve a 1/4-inch gap between the doors and on the outer sides of the doors at the top.
6. Raise a door by turning the nut on the bottom door hardware. Place an adjustable wrench on the nut at the outer edge of a door and turn it clockwise to raise the door height.
7. Turn the nut counterclockwise to lower a door. Adjust the door height on both doors so that there is a 1/4-inch gap at the top of the doors below the doorjamb.
8. Close the doors and recheck the measurements. Make additional adjustments as necessary to obtain the 1/4-inch gaps.
