Keep Cash Safe In A Home

Times are changing. People are becoming suspicious--and downright scared--of placing the fortunes that they possess within the hands of failing banks. It doesn't have to be that way. Although you can rest assured that your funds are guaranteed up to a certain amount in bank that is FDIC insured, it still is a good idea to stash some cash around your home for emergencies. Remember that it's better to be safe than sorry. Even if it's only a few twenties placed here and there, it's important to keep your money safe when storing it at home.

Instructions

1. Choose the path least traveled in your home. If you have an office room or storage space that is rarely entered, it's a good idea to save part of the money in this room. You want it to be a place that is off-limits to your children so that the money isn't discovered in play.

2. Keep a couple of empty coffee cans on the top cabinet in your kitchen. Stuff your money into the can, placing it towards the back of the counter. Place cans with actual coffee around it. Make sure that you let cleaning staff and others know that your cabinets are off-limits. You don't want people throwing away your money thinking that it's simply a can of expired coffee.

3. Use a plain, small shopping bag. Place the money in a rubber band. Place the organized money in an empty, small shopping bag. Put the handles of the bag around the top of a clothes hanger. Hang it at the very back of your closet. It should be safe. If the closet is scavenged, most people won't look at clothes hangers. If so, they will likely think it's some random clothing item because of the shopping bag disguise.

4. Put your money in your jewelry box. It's where you keep your treasures. It's best to keep this in a safe or lock box. However, if you have security in your home, you can keep it in open space. Simply lock the door before having guests over.

5. Stuff money into a pair of socks. This should be a pair that is purple...or some other color that you never use. Place that pair of socks among all your others. The different color will stand out to you, but it will remain incognito for the random search of the drawer.
