Install A Pegboard In A Garage

For many families, a garage can turn from the indoor spot to house the car and into a catch-all for tools, junk and everything else that won't fit into the main home's closets. One of the most efficient methods to remove this clutter from the garage floor is to install a pegboard on the wall. This pegboard can be used to hang tools, garden wares and even the kids' summer toys. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Cut the piece of pegboard to the desired length and height with a skill saw. Pegboard is sold in 4-by-4, 2-by-4 and 4-by-8 pieces. If any of these is the desired size, cutting the pegboard is not necessary.

2. Construct a frame the exact size of the pegboard with 1-by-2 wood boards. Lay the boards out into the shape of the frame and attach them with wood screws and an electric screwdriver.

3. Screw the frame into the wall with wood screws and the electric screwdriver.

4. Place the pegboard on top of the frame, making sure that all of the sides line up. Secure the pegboard to the frame with 3/4-inch wood screws on all four corners of the pegboard with an electric screwdriver. Place two additional screws into each side of the pegboard with the electric screwdriver.

5. Hang pegboard hooks into the desired holes for the pegboard's intended use.
