Closet Organizing Kits

If you're looking for a way to combat closet clutter, look no further. Closet organizing kits are easy to install, fairly inexpensive and keep everything in its place. Read on for some suggested closet organizing kits, tips on install and shop for them, and some other creative ways to put them to use. Does this Spark an idea?

Prepare

Before shopping for a closet organizing kit, assess your closet. Measure your workable space and take into consideration what you have and how you want to organize it. For example do you want drawers, shelves, belt racks, hanging rods?

Consider wire shelving

Wire closet organizing kits are the most cost effective and easiest to install. Visit your local hardware store or research wire ventilation shelving on-line.

Splurge on laminated shelving

If you are willing to put out a little more money on a closet organizing kit, the laminated versions can be built into a custom finished look with many options for cabinets, drawers, and shelves. Lowes and Home Depot both carry their own version of laminated closet organizers.

Design the closet layout

Using a piece of graph paper, draw the closet dimensions. Begin drawing the closet organizer layout based on your space size, the features you'd like to include in the closet, and the products' size specifications (most closet organizer kits have brochures that detail all of the available closet pieces with their size specifications).

Install

Once the closet design is finalized, use the layout created in the previous section to begin building the closet. Follow the manufacturer's instructions closely and build one unit at a time, until all units are built and ready to be put together to form a complete clutter-combating closet.

Think outside the closet

That's right, think outside the closet, literally. Get creative and use closet organizing kits to help combat clutter everywhere in your house. Design a system in an entryway or mudroom to keep everyday clutter organized (think coats, backpacks, etc), build a wall unit for the playroom, or create a garage storage area.
