The two most famous islands in the Seine River in Paris, France are the Ile de la Cite and Ile St. Louis. Ile de la Cite was the first settlement in Paris, founded by the Celt Parissi tribe in 250 B.C; thus the name Paris. A small boutique hotel, the three-star Hotel des Deux-Iles is a good choice if you are looking to stay on the pricey Ile St. Louis but do not require the feel of old Paris decor in your room. Like most buildings on Ile St, Louis, the Hotel des Deux-Iles is housed in a 17th century townhouse with stone walls, wood beams, and an enchanting stone cellar, where breakfast is served daily. Rooms are small but modern, with mirrored closets, modern rattan furniture, and Wi-Fi access. Bathrooms are up to date with white and ceramic tiles imported from Portugal. The Hotel des Deux-Iles is owned by the same company as its more expensive neighbor, Hotel du Lutece.
