Interior Door Solutions

The doors on the inside of your house can be just as decorative as the one leading into the home.

If you're in the process of home remodeling, you may want to find decorative and functional solutions for doors in various spaces of the house. Adding appealing features and adornments to the door will make it one of the space's signature pieces. Does this Spark an idea?

Size

To decorate an interior door of a small space like the hall closet, paint the door a brighter color that coordinates with the wall paint. If you've painted the walls black, a door in cherry red or cobalt blue is best. For a larger door, like the set of double doors leading to your living room, a neutral and elegant color like bronze or tan will add a classy touch without taking away from the doors' shape.

Types

There are several types of interior doors that you can choose that will serve as room decor and a functional feature for the space. Sliding doors add a nice touch to a linen closet in the bathroom or hallway, especially if the closet door is painted an eye-catching color or has a design painted in the center. A door that is also a mirror is ideal for the master bedroom closet, so you can see how you look as soon as you try an outfit on.

Considerations

To make the most of interior doors, it's a good idea to add shelves or coat racks to the back of the door to save closet space. The hooks work well for a coat closet in the foyer, and shelves can be added to the back of the closet in a child's room to store shoes and clothing.
