Nursery Organization Tips

Keeping your nursery clutter free can make navigating through it much easier and safer.

Nursery organization is important in helping you handle the hectic lifestyle of caring for an infant. If you can organize your nursery properly you can not only make things like diaper changing and laundry a little easier, but you can help save some time on these tasks too. If you are organizing a nursery, or trying to reorganize a messy one, a few tips will help make your nursery neat and clutter free. Does this Spark an idea?

Dresser Changing Table

Have your baby's clothing dresser double as a changing table. You can do this simply by putting a changing pad on top of your dresser. Designate a drawer for diapers, diaper changing supplies and burping rags; keep a few basic supplies in a basket on top of the dresser for easy access during changes.

Storage Baskets

Baskets are a great storage device for nurseries, and can come in any shape or size depending on your need. Measure the area under your baby's crib and find baskets or bins that will fit under it. You can use this storage space for toys, books or more diapers.

Decor Space Saver

If you are working with a small nursery that doesn't afford a lot of room for decor, simply put the essentials, a crib and changing table, in baby's room and paint murals on the wall instead. You can paint fun little animals, gardens or even baby's name. The murals will be effective in helping you achieve a well-decorated nursery, without sacrificing space for decor.

Hanging Organizers

Closet organizers are useful when it comes to organizing baby's many outfits, shoes and hats. Local baby supply or department stores often carry closet organizers. You can even buy shoe organizers that hang on closet doors, to save more space in a small closet. Or, hang shoe organizers next to a changing table to store lotions, wipes and baby powder.

Only Keep Essentials

If you have a lot of clothing, if baby has grown out of old clothes or if you have too many toys, go through and make a pile of things you absolutely don't need. You can donate items to those in need or hold a garage sale and clean out the rest of your house too. If you have clothing for baby's future, store it away an an airtight container until it is needed. You can also designate a bin for your baby's toys and don't allow any more toys than the bin can fit, changing out toys as baby grows older.

Laundry Basket

Keep a small laundry basket next to your baby's changing table. This will help you save time and trouble, as you will have the laundry basket right there when you change your baby out of dirty clothes. You can also use a laundry bag and simply tie it to the side of your changing table.
