If you have trouble inserting the shelves, or if your closet is not entirely square, trim the shelves an 1/8 inch at a time until you are satisfied with the fit.

4. Paint or stain the shelves and allow to dry.

5. Mark the wall on the inside of the closet to show where the brackets should be installed for the shelves to be at the proper height. Use a bracket as your guide and mark the location of each screw hole for each bracket.

6. Drill all of the screw holes that you have marked.

7. Screw the brackets in place and set your shelves on top of the brackets.

8. Place your items on the shelves taking care to place the most frequently used items at eye-level and toward the front of the shelves. Place less frequently used items on the top and bottom shelves or stored behind more frequently used items.
