What Is The Warped Tour

Vans Warped Tour brings thousands of music fans together each year.

Sometimes billed as the "longest running music festival," the Vans Warped Tour has brought thousands of music fans together over a 15 year period. But do you know the basics about this long-standing summer tour?

Origins

Warped Tour began with promoter Kevin Lyman and Greg Teal, who put the event together with a vision of a summer tour bringing sports and music together.

First Tour

The first tour kicked off on Aug. 4, 1995, in Salt Lake City, Utah, and included Sublime, L7, No Use for a Name and several other bands, according to vanswarpedtour.com.

Bands

In the tour's 15 year history, a number of bands have played, including Paramore, Gym Class Heroes, Sublime, Motor City Soundtrack, New Found Glory and many others.

Tickets

In 2009, ticket holders received a complimentary compilation CD of the year's tour acts, with the purchase of presale tickets, which were $25, according to Billboard.com and warpedtourtickets.muisictoday.com.

Documenting the tour

In 2009, the Warped Tour Documentary was created, chronicling 15 years of punk, pop and various genres bringing music fans together. The documentary, which received mixed reviews, features organizer Kevin Lyman and behind-the-scenes action.
