Cover A Sliding Window Door

Patio doors and sliding glass doors require special blinds.

A sliding window door is difficult to cover because of its size. Because most sliding glass window doors are between 4 and 8 feet wide, larger blinds or curtains are required to cover them up. The vertical blind is an effective option for covering sliding window doors. Simply turning the blind wand adjusts the blinds, allowing in the sunlight, offering some privacy and convenience. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Decide on your installation type. Vertical blinds install over the top molding or beside the edge of top molding. If you want to hide the entire molding piece, install them above the molding and beside them.

2. Measure for your installation. If you choose to install the blinds over the top molding, measure from the top of the molding to the floor. If you choose to install below the molding, measure from below the molding to the floor. For installations on the outside edges of the molding, measure the width from the outer edges of the molding.

3. Custom order a set of vertical blinds to this measurement at a specialty blinds store, or look for a matching set at a home improvement store.

4. Install the vertical blinds on your sliding glass window. First attach the blind brackets to the wall using the provided hardware. Then connect the vertical blind rod to the brackets. Finally, attach the vertical blind pieces to the plastic clips on the bottom of the blind rod. One blind slides into one clip.

5. Attach the wand to the vertical blind rod by sliding the hooked end into the loop connector on the right side of the blinds. Then attach the blind string bracket to the side of the wall beside your blinds on the right side. This is used to open and close the blinds.
