Design A Nursery Closet

Preparing for a new baby can be a very exciting experience. Choosing baby furniture, picking out a color scheme for the baby's room and preparing a layette can be lots of fun. Many parents choose to create a closet specifically for the baby's needs. This closet can help a parent stay organized in the middle of 3 a.m. feedings and late-afternoon diaper changes. A nursery closet should ideally have several items, such as shelving and racks for baby's things.

Instructions

1. Make it safe. Babies grow up quickly. Install a safety latch on the door. Make sure that all shelves are secure.

2. Paint it. Paint the interior of the closet a cheery color that matches or contrasts slightly with the rest of the room. This will make it pop out against the rest of the décor.

3. Buy a shoe rack. Babies start walking very soon. Baby shoes are very small. A shoe rack will help you keep track of their shoes.

4. Purchase hangers. Baby hangers are much smaller than regular hangers. A hanger will help you keep track of clothing that isn't in drawers. This can be a special area to showcase items such as christening dresses that have special meaning.

5. Install pull-out shelving. Pull-out shelves will help you avoid bending. Such shelves can be very useful when holding a squirming baby in your arms or watching a baby on a changing table.
