1. Check for leaky pipes. Sometimes a small water leak can be the source of your problem. Look for water stains or damage on the walls and ceilings. Replace or patch leaky pipes or tighten pipe connections.
2. Aerate your closet. Mass amounts of clothes are ideal for retaining moisture. Keep your closet doors open when you're not home.
3. Place moisture-absorbing crystals in your closet. Such products can be found at home improvement stores. Some are made to hang and others are just little buckets full of the crystals. You will notice the crystals absorbing humidity and water once they're installed.
4. Buy a dehumidifier and place it in your closet. The dehumidifier will draw moisture from the air in your closet. The machine will collect the water. When the machine is full, simply pour the water out and plug it back in. Buying a dehumidifier will save you a lot of money in the long run compared to other alternatives.
5. Install an exhaust fan in the ceiling of your closet. Exhaust fans are what you normally find in your bathroom. Installing one can be expensive and require the services of a professional. These fans will suck all of the damp air straight out of your closet.
6. Use a heat-producing 100-watt bulb in the closet to remove humidity.
