One of the hottest trends in home decorating is laundry room décor. Perhaps the movement has been bought on by people who are tired of spending a large amount of time in a laundry room that isn't on par with their style and taste. The majority of laundry rooms are plain and lack any type of home décor style at all. The laundry room is often as neglected as the garage. Instructions
1. Paint the walls and ceiling of the laundry room in a light shade of paint. Popular colors used for laundry rooms include bright yellow, mint green, apple green or bright blue. These colors quickly brighten up a small area and make it look larger.
2. Decorate the walls with artwork that makes you smile and evoke feelings of happiness. Artwork such as sunsets, beach scenes, tropical flowers, wild animals and mountains can make any wall more interesting. If you have children, display their artwork on a corkboard on the wall. Another popular idea is to use framed family photos in which the people are making funny faces.
3. Install a wide counter or place a table in the laundry room that can lay flush against the wall. This work surface is essential when you need to fold and sort laundry and treat stains.
4. Install a deep laundry sink that allows you to handwash delicate clothing or pre-soak stains. This sink can also be used to wash the family cat or dog.
5. Install an ironing cupboard that can easily be folded out when the need to iron arises. Install a shelf above the cupboard to hold items such as spray starch and the iron.
6. Install a clothesline on one wall using wall hooks. This clothesline can be used to hang clothing that is too delicate for the dryer.
7. Install shelves to place common items needed in the laundry room such as detergent, shoe polish, stain removers and stain pre-treaters.
8. Add a couple of large baskets for clean laundry or clothing items that need to be mended. Have a small basket on a shelf that can be used to hold items that are found in pockets as you sort the laundry such as loose change or papers.
