Pricing on trane 2ton heatpump system

Pricing on Trane 2ton Heatpump System

I had been having problems with my current 2ton heatpump system. Had a new company come up and check my system since the previous company did not seem to be helping me find the problem -- the just kept adding freon every season for the past two years. The problem has gotten worse and the new company said the condenser in the handler has a lot of leaks and has also been corroded with a lot of rust. It is about 20 years old. The 2ton heat pump outside is 12 years old. When they checked it they said the compressor is dead. At this point the system is just blowing air around inside -- not cooling. I live in a 1200sqft townhome near Baltimore. The basement is finished but has no air ducts. Basically, I'm just heating and cooling the two top floors. My townhouse is an interior unit so it pretty well insulated. The prices for a new unit -- Trane 2Ton Heat Pump System are as follows ro replace the handler and heat pump: 16 seer (with R-410A) - $7203.00 14 seer (with R-410A) -- $6420.00 14 seer (with R-22) -- $6295.00 13 seer (with R-22) -- $5530.00 These are all with a 10 yr comp warranty 13 seer (With R-22) -- $5389.00 -- with a 5 yr comp warranty. These prices are just for the systems using my existing ductwork. I will get a couple more estimates but I was wondering what your opinions were of these prices and systems. I'm a new homeowner and don't know very much about HVAC systems. Thanks for your help. Its hard to say thats a good price if you dont see the job and where ever you are is not the same cost for the hvac company. I would say that they are just a little over what we get in MO. Now with Trane the best go is the XL15i condenser and a TWE-E blower coil V/S with this you can put a humidistat on the unit that can take out more humiditywhen the AC is on. You will get a SEER of 15.10 and a HSPF of 8.05.for heat. Yes you can get it in R22 and for sure stay with the R22 it will be made till 2030 The unit has the 10 year warranty and going to the 15.10 seer you can get a $300 tax credit from the IRS. ED Thanks for the reply. I know it's hard to judge prices from place to place but it's interesting to know they are just a little over the cost of where you are. I definitely will stick with the R-22. You mentioned a 15.1 seer. All they quoted me were 14 and 16 seer, should I ask about a 15? Does the size of my house have anything to do with the SEER rating? Thanks Just tell them you want the XL15i With the V/S air handler for R22. The energy guide on it will say Seer of 15.10 And the HSPF for heat at 8.05 This one should have the 10 year warranty for all parts also. In fact this is the one I just put in my home here 2 ton heat pump. This XL15i is the one we sell most of the time The XL 16i and the XL19i just dont have the pay back. Like the XL19i only goes up th 8.90 for the HSPF. The lower seer are like builder models No the seer has not a thing to do with your home. The seer just tell you like how efficient it is. ED Thanks for the information. I'll call them Monday and ask about the system you mentioned. It's great to have a forum like this for people like me that just need some information or an unbiased opinion. Thanks again
