1. Measure the exterior of your home so that you know how much vinyl log siding to purchase. Measure the length times the height of each section of wall to find the amount in square feet. Also, measure the perimeter of windows and doors to get an idea of how much trim you need to purchase.
2. Establish a budget for your project. Keep in mind labor as well as log siding costs. While some vinyl log siding styles have insulated backing, if you choose a style that doesn't provide insulation you may want to add the cost of insulation into your budget.

4. Select the color and style you like best. Log siding styles vary from company to company but typically you will find sections of three or four logs per piece. These pieces are installed in much the same way that you would install traditional lap siding, by working from the lowest section of the wall upward. Log siding styles come in a variety of colors that replicate natural wood, such as pine or fir. You can also paint your vinyl log siding if you wish. Choose the log siding trim that best suits the vinyl siding you have chosen.
5. Purchase your vinyl log siding. Vinyl siding may vary in thickness from company to company. Choose the heaviest vinyl you can afford within your budget. As you order your siding, remember to order extra to allow for errors.
