Boiler Temperature Pressure Gauge Low
What is the cause for the pressure/temp. gauge located on the furnace to read low. Is it simply because the furnace may be old and not efficient anymore or is there a simple solution to adjusting the temperature. My Pressure is around 20 PSI (which is normal correct???) but my temperature reading is 100F and I thought they should read anywhere from 170 - 190. I'm not getting enough heat for my buck. Does anyone else have this problem or had this problem? If there is a solution please let me know. Thanks, Andre These things have a habit of crapping out. Feel the pipes as they leave the boiler. Particularly at the top of the boiler. You can easily tell the difference is 100є 160є+. Post back with results. I would say the gauge is reading right...its just a little warm. I remember towards the end of last year the temperature was where it should be and that pipe was fairly hot and now its no where near that. Many boilers do not maintain temperature when there is no call for heat. If you have a call for heat the burner is firing, give it about 1/2 hour check the pipes again. If you have a call for heat the burner is not firing, that is another story. The stat was set low so I turned it up and I will give it about 1/2-1hr and see what happens. The burner is firing but just doesnt seem to be heating water up like it should I guess in my thought. This might be a dumb question but would it have anything to to do with the Taco Recirculator on the opposite side of the furnace cause I know I need to replace it. If you don't know, ask, I'll do my best. The temperature not coming up in the boiler would have nothing to do with the circulator. If you don't get heat into the house, it could be the circ. Alright well the temperature did go up by 20degrees but its because I have the stat turned way up. Now is there a certain temperature that it should maintain even though the furnace isnt called to be be fired? For instance if I have my stat set to 68 or 70 should the temperature read lets say 120 or something or does it just depend on the area or areas that are getting heated? Thanks..Your help is well appreciated. It seems your boiler does not maintan any temperature when there is no call for heat. The thermostat is simply a switch. It is either on or off, no in between. When the stat is calling for heat, the boiler runs wide open untill it reaches it's maximum setting or untill the thermostat is no longer calling for heat, at which time it shuts off. Asweeley, it appears that we are having similar problems with our boilers. I posed a question similar to yours on this forum yesterday. My temperature gauge reads about 100-110F, after the burners have been firing for 1/2 hour or more, while the water pressure stays at around 15psi. Unfortunately, I just moved into this house this summer, so I have no knowledge of the characteristics of my heating system. I will post updates as I try to resolve this problem.
