GE Profile Prodigy washer not spinning

I have a GE Washer WPSE4270A0WW that is not spinning during the spin cycle. Everything else works: fill, agitate, drain. I have tested the lid switch and water sensor switch and both are fine. I can rotate the belt by hand both ways and get the desired action, one way to agitate the other way moves the basket. This makes me believe the transmission is ok. I put it into Field Service Mode and everything tests fine until I put it on the spin test, the motor does not spin but hums very loud for a few seconds and then a click, then silence. My thoughts are that it's either the motor is going or control board had malfunctioned. Any way to test this? This is my first attempt at fixing a washer and I don't know if I should junk it or try and repair. Thanks for any suggestions Update: I took the belt off and let the motor cool down. Now the motor works with all tests without the belt. When I turn the bottom of the transmission it is super easy to turn the agitate way but very hard to turn the spin cycle way. Any ideas what to look for? Has the tub seal been leaking water that you know of? A lot of times the tub seal will leak just a drop or two during the cycle and rust the bearings making the transmission lock. Has it been noisy lately? You might have to replace the transmission.
