Architectural Pergola Hardware

Hope someone can point me in the right direction. I have a 20x12 Cedar pergola in the works and I want to add some personal touches by including some Architectual hardware to it. I am refering to the thick, usually black, steel connectors you would see in a restaurant with exposed beams for example. I have searched and searched the internet for a long time and I can't find anyone who sells them, I do come across sites for companies who build pergolas and will see the hardware being used but usually with no reference to where it came from. I hope someone here has as some knowledge on this. Thanks Dave Milwaukee, WI Welcome to the forums. I'm trying to picture what you are looking for. Have you seen them in online photos ? Maybe you could leave a link so we can check them out and get a better idea what you are looking for. Since almost every application is unique I assume structural pieces like that are custom made. If you can sketch up what you want a local steel or welding shop should be able to fabricate them for you. Stuff like that is pretty easy to make so the cost should be reasonable. Don't walk into a weld shop and start asking for these metal things and wave you're hands around. They will probably not be received well. But, if you have a drawing/sketch of what you want, with dimensions that you can hand to them and say make this it should be a pretty simple job.
