Laminate Flooring Spacers
When installing the laminate flooring it is recommended that spacers be used atleast 1/4 to 1/2 from the wall aka expansion gaps. The room where I plan to install laminate flooring has walls which have good half inch gap height from the floor. Seems drywalls were intentionally screwed where their bottom did not touch the floor but was half inch above the floor levels. Baseboards were covering this open gap. In this scenario, do I still need to use the spacers as I can also have laminate floor reach 1/8 below the drywalls and still have good 1/4 -3/8 space as expansion gaps for laminate planks. If spacers really need to be employed then what is a good way to have them stick to the wall and not fall down. Due to open space from floor, any pressure on these spacers and they fall forwards as lower portion slides inside the cavity between the vertical drywall and floor. This despite taping them to the wall with scotch tape. The spacers are only needed during installation and are removed upon completion. I know you invested in plastic spacers, but in your case, you can take some scrap wood or laminate and cut it to size. Slice a piece of laminate on a miter saw to the width of the desired gap. Make sure it is small enough to be able to be removed after the floor is installed. Spacers remind you not to forget the gap and they also steady the floor which makes the installation easier. Spacers may have to be made of different sizes if the wall you are starting your install on has any kind of a wave in it.
