Start A Consignment Shop Business Using Ebay

Starting an eBay consignment shop is a great way to earn extra money from home.

A great way to make money from home is to sell items on eBay, which has become immensely popular over the past decade and is well known for its user-friendly sales platform. With eBay, you can list your items at a flat rate or sell them using the auction option where interested buyers place bids for your items. A consignment shop business format would work seamlessly with the eBay sales platform. Traditional consignment shops purchase used items, such as clothing, from individuals and then sell them at a profit in their shop. These shops may also agree to sell an item on behalf of an individual in exchange for a percentage of sales proceeds.

Instructions

Start Making Money

1. Set up an eBay account. You can do this by visiting the eBay website and clicking on the "Sell" option from the column on the left side of the page. When you click on this option you will be given the option to set up an account. This process will require you to enter information such as your name, address, telephone number, a chosen user name and a password.

2. Set up a PayPal account. You will need this account to accept payments from your buyers. Go to the Paypal website and select the "sign up" option. You will again be prompted to enter information about yourself such as your name, address, telephone number, email address, a user name and a password. From there you will be able to use the type of account that you want. You will probably do just fine signing up for a free personal account.

3. Acquire inventory. You can't run a consignment shop business if you have nothing to sell. Ask people you know if they have old clothing, home goods or furniture that they would like to get rid of. You can also shop at flea markets and second-hand stores for inexpensive inventory that you can sell at a profit. An additional option is to offer to sell items for your friends and neighbors in exchange for a percentage of the proceeds.

4. Stock up on shipping materials. Running an eBay business means that you will be shipping items to buyers on a regular basis. Keep a plentiful stock of shipping boxes, labels and packing peanuts to streamline your shipping process. You can also make arrangements with FedEx or UPS to stop at your home or place of business each day to pick up packages that need to be shipped.
