Ideas For Reorganizing Closets

Organizing your closet will make finding the right outfit much easier.

An organized closet makes a big difference when it comes to finding the things that you need quickly. Unfortunately, many closets become victims to clutter. Learning tips and ideas for reorganizing your closet keeps your items in better condition, makes searching for things easier and makes you proud of the storage space that you have. Does this Spark an idea?

Hangers

Closet floors become cluttered and unsightly when clothes fall off their hangers. The disorganization of having several items off or dangling from hangers is frustrating. Choosing the right hanger for the right article of clothing is important. Not all hangers are made for all types of clothes. Purchase padded hangers, wooden hangers and plastic hangers. Stay away from flexible wire hangers that easily lose their shape. Padded hangers protect finer fabrics. Wooden hangers easily support heavier coats and suits. Plastic hangers work well for button-down shirts.

Shoes

Shoes scattered across a closet floor create a disorganized mess. Not only are pairs harder to find, but the closet also looks cluttered. Choose a hang-on-the-door shoe bag to store your shoes neatly. Shoe racks can also be purchased. Always store your shoes in pairs. If you find that your shoes are taking over your closet, consider storing those shoes not in season in a different location.

Clothes

Sort your clothing to make it easier to find. Fold sweaters and place them on shelves to protect their shape from hangers. Organize your clothing by season if your closet is large enough to hold all the items. If not, pack up the season not in use and organize the remaining clothes by style or color.

Levels

When shelving, racks or storage bins are used in a closet, organize items by their frequency of use. The things you use most often should appear at eye level. Things rarely used go at the shelves on the top and moderately used items go closer to the bottom. If you place things on shelves in boxes, always label the box so the contents can be quickly identified without removing the container.

Linens

Organize sheets in linen closets and prevent them from separation by stuffing them inside of their coordinating pillow cases. Place the pillow cases on shelves, according to the sheet size.

Declutter

Take a close look at the things in your closet and determine if they belong in there. Remove the clutter from your closets by getting rid of items. Once you do away with all clothing and items that you do not use, it is much easier to organize the things that you do need.
