Storage is a necessity in any home. Whether you have a large storage closet or just a random assortment of small spaces to stash things, you can find a home for everything you need to store. Instructions


1. Walk around your home and make a list of all available storage space in your home, no matter how big or small. Do not overlook even the smallest spaces where things can be stored, such as under beds, on high shelves or at the back of deep closets.


2. As you inspect your home for storage space, make a second list of the items that are currently living in that space.


3. Inspect your second list and prioritize it. Note all items that can be purged and prioritize the rest according to how often you will need to access it.


4. Declutter one storage space at a time. Place trash in trash bags. Label cardboard boxes according to what you will do with the items. For example, you might label one box for donations and another for a garage sale. Place appropriate items into the labeled boxes. Continue until that storage area is empty.


5. Consult your list and decide what should be stored in the area you have just decluttered.


6. Place those items into an appropriate storage containers and label the containers, if necessary.


7. Continue working on one storage area at a time until you have decluttered every area and repurposed it for storage of the items you have decided to keep.
