Budget Closet Solutions For Maximum Storage

You can spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars on fancy closet organization systems or by hiring someone to come and redo your closet. For most people a closet can be better organized simply and cheaply by following some organizing rules. Does this Spark an idea?

Look at a Closet

A closet stores such items as clothes that you don't want seen but want easy access to. Keeping that in mind, look at your closet and eliminate clutter by removing things that don't belong. If you have boxes of stuff for long-term storage, take them out and put them in long-term storage places such as your attic, spare room or some other place. If you have no other place then go through the box, make sure it includes stuff you will again need and close it neatly in the proper size box. Use a box not much bigger than the stuff in it and that conforms to the space of your closet. Whether your closet holds clothes or boxes, it is important to store stuff in an easily accessible way. Any boxes or containers in your closet should always be able to be lifted with ease and without strain. Clean out your closet of anything you don't need or want. If you put everything in its place and remove unwanted clothes and such, you will probably not need nearly as much space as you thought you needed.

Ways to Increase Storage

When organizing your closet, do everything right from the beginning. Throw out everything you don't need and be willing to start over. Use quality hangers. Find hangers that are good for holding multiple pieces of clothes by utilizing space horizontally. Add stuff to the inside or outside of your door for storage. Consider using shoe hangers or other hanging devices to store items. Utilize every part of your closet. Use multilevel boxes or shelves for things such as shoes or other items on the floor. Install a simple shelf or two on the top of your closet for boxes or other stackable items. Consider putting in a vertical shelving system for holding items such as T-shirts and other items that you don't want to have to reach for and that don't need to be hung up.
