Recycle Lazy Susans

Recycle Lazy Susans when you no longer want them on your table.

Lazy Susans take their places on American dinner tables as places for condiments and spices, such as ketchup, salt and pepper. They come in both large and small sizes and are made of wood or plastic. When your table's Lazy Susan starts to look tired from wear and tear, recycle it for use elsewhere in your home. Remember, Lazy Susans are merely turntables, and turntables have uses in cabinets, closets and even children's rooms. Use them for organization and even for playtime. Larger Lazy Susans work well under cabinets and on floors. Smaller Lazy Susans work well in cabinets. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Cabinets

1. Recycle a Lazy Susan in the cabinet beneath your kitchen sink. Fill it with cleaners such as dishwashing soap, floor cleaner and silver polish.

2. Place a Lazy Susan in an upper kitchen cabinet where you keep spices. Load it with spice jars. Lazy Susans work well in such cabinets because they enable you to better access the small items you stow inside.

3. Install a Lazy Susan in the cabinet where you keep your vitamins. Load larger items in the center of the turntable and smaller items on the outside, so you'll be able to get a good look at all the items standing on the Lazy Susan.

4. Deposit a Lazy Susan beneath a bathroom sink. Store bathroom cleaner and extra bath tissue on it. Also use it to store medicines and toiletries, such as hair products or sunblock.

Closets

5. Recycle a Lazy Susan into a closet organizer. Place the turntable on lower shelves, where it's darker. The turntable will make it easier to find things in those areas.

6. Add a Lazy Susan to a bedroom closet. Place it on the floor for use with shoes. Put the heels of the shoes in the center so it's easier to tell which shoes are facing you.

7. Place a Lazy Susan in a kitchen pantry. Stack canned goods and juice boxes on it. You can also put the Lazy Susan on the floor of the pantry, storing bags of potatoes on it.

Other Areas

8. Deposit a Lazy Susan in your child's room. Take tall plastic spaghetti storage containers and fill them with different colors of Legos, marbles or plastic army men. Load the containers onto the turntable for an easy-to-see and easy-to-reach storage system.

9. Add a Lazy Susan to a tool work bench in the garage or basement. Place small containers on the turntable. Fill them with screws and nails.

10. Assign a Lazy Susan to a craft room or an art table. Fill the Lazy Susan with jars of pencils, markers and scissors to make art projects easier.

11. Put a Lazy Susan in your mud room and call it the "gadget spot." Use it as the place where everyone sets down keys and cell phones upon entering the house. Finding the items upon exit will be quick and easy.

Other Uses

12. Recycle a Lazy Susan into a spin art machine. Tape a piece of drawing paper onto the turntable. Spin the Lazy Susan while touching the paper with magic markers or paint brushes.

13. Turn a Lazy Susan into into a toy merry-go-round. Load it with small toy animals, dolls and other figures. Spin it to pretend the toys are on a carousel.

14. Create a pretend DJ station for playtime. Set the Lazy Susan on a table or a box. Add a pair of headphones. Make pretend records out of paper. Encourage your child to "spin" records as a DJ.
