Assemble Ikea Furniture With Minimal Frustration

You don't need these many tools to assemble IKEA furniture.

Shopping at IKEA is a pleasure. Coming home and emptying out a huge box full of seemingly endless tiny parts and screws is a pain. Putting together your new furniture may seem exhausting before you even begin, but there are steps you can take so the experience isn't as difficult as it can be. A little preparation goes a long way when you're putting together furniture from IKEA. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Find a friend that is skillful at putting furniture together. Four hands work faster than two, and this may eliminate some of the frustration of doing this type of project by yourself.

2. Take inventory before you begin. Empty the box, and then match the parts you have with what the instructions show. Check that all the parts are there. Factory mistakes can happen, and you don't want to be putting your table together when you realize you're missing a part.

3. Separate the parts into piles so you don't have to search through hinges to find that one hook or screw you need. Dividing the parts shaves some time off your labor and makes it simpler to grab exactly what you need.

4. Read through the instructions a couple of times to get a feel for the project before you dive in. If you have any questions, call IKEA Support at 1-800-434-IKEA to answer them before you start.

5. Get your own toolbox. Frequently, IKEA projects do come with tools, but they are smaller and not as efficient as the ones you already own. This may cut your time in half and make putting together your furniture a lot less stressful. Have a hammer, drill and some basic tools on hand.

6. Turn on some music. Putting together your furniture can take hours, and the time can drag when you're fussing with those tiny pieces. Having some tunes on while you're working may make the project a little more enjoyable.
