Diy Bedroom Cabinets

Building a bedroom cabinet for the home adds more storage space to a bedroom, allowing items to be stored both inside and on top of a cabinet. Making a homemade bedroom cabinet requires only basic carpentry skills and a few simple tools, and the whole project can be finished within a weekend. A well-built bedroom cabinet has the potential to last for many years, which makes it a good investment for any homeowner. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Place two of the 3-by-3-foot lumber sheets together. Put the edge of one sheet along the face of a second so they form a right angle. Drill pilot holes in the wood before adding screws. Attach the wood with screws, placing one screw every 4 to 6 inches along the joint.

2. Place one of the other 3-foot lumber sheets at the other end of the L-shaped section to form a U. Drill pilot holes in the wood before adding screws. Attach it with screws, adding one screw every 4 to 6 inches. This will form the body of the cabinet.

3. Put one of the remaining 3-foot sheets on top of the U-shaped structure. This will be the bottom of the cabinet. Ensure that all of the edges are aligned. Drill pilot holes in the wood before adding screws. Attach the bottom with screws, adding one screw every 4 to 6 inches along each of the three closed sides.

4. Turn the structure over to attach the top of the cabinet. Attach the last 3-foot board with screws as you did the bottom. The base of the cabinet is now complete.

5. Place one hinge 3 to 5 inches from the top and bottom of each side of the open portion of the cabinet. This will provide a place to hang the cabinet doors. Drill pilot holes before adding the hinges. Attach the four hinges to the cabinet structure with screws or according to the manufacturer instructions.

6. Attach the door handles to the 1 1/2-foot cedar sheets. Attach one handle 2 to 3 inches from the edge on the face of each sheet, near the center.

7. Attach the doors to the hinges installed on the cabinet base. Ensure that the door handles are in the center, away from the hinges, to allow the doors to open.

8. Paint or stain the bedroom cabinets and allow them to dry for 24 to 48 hours before putting them in your bedroom.
