Ideas On Replace Closet Doors

Replace your closet door with a more creative option.

While you certainly can replace closet doors with other wooden doors in various styles and colors, you can also opt to skip traditional doors entirely and utilize assorted creative options as door replacements. Such door options can give you easier access to your closet, particularly if you are fortunate enough to have a walk-in version. You can even create a small dressing area, complete with little tables and area rugs, if you decide to use options such as decorative screens as door replacements. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Thread a curtain onto a curtain rod and hang it between the door frame. Recycle old curtains you already own by hemming and sewing them to fit the door frame, or look for curtains in thrift and consignment stores if you would rather not spend the money on a brand new curtain. You can also make your own curtain design by sewing various curtain patterns together to make one large curtain. Decorative sheets are another option that you can hem and sew to size to use as a cloth door.

2. Place a screen in front of the closet. Use a plain wooden screen, which you can paint and decorate as desired if you so choose, or purchase a decorative screen that features assorted carvings and designs. While you can use screens simply to cover the door frame, you can also position them outward from the door frame to create a small dressing area in front of your closet.

3. Use swinging doors--also referred to as saloon doors--as replacement closet doors. Such doors come in sets and swing inward as well as outward. They also work well for bedrooms with walk-in closets as they can make the room appear bigger or more open.

4. Utilize other hanging door options, such as roll-up bamboo screens or assorted beaded "doors." Use wooden beaded or plastic beaded doors depending on the decor of the bedroom. Colorful plastic beaded doors, for example, can work well in a child's or teenager's room.
